First Aid Measures
Inhalation:
Remove to fresh air immediately. If not breathing, give artificial respiration. Seek IMMEDIATE medical attention. Methanol poisoning may be delayed.
Skin Contact:
Remove contaminated clothing. Wash skin thoroughly with soap and water for 15-20 minutes. Seek medical attention.
Eye Contact:
Rinse immediately with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. Seek immediate medical attention.
Ingestion:
Do NOT induce vomiting. Give ethanol (as antidote) if available and conscious. Seek IMMEDIATE medical attention. Time is critical.
Most Important Symptoms:
Seek medical attention if symptoms persist.
5
Fire Fighting Measures
suitable Extinguishing:
Alcohol-resistant foam, dry chemical, CO2, water spray
unsuitable Extinguishing:
Water jet
specific Hazards:
Highly flammable. Vapors heavier than air. May form explosive mixtures. Burns with nearly invisible blue flame.
protective Equipment:
6
Accidental Release Measures
personal Precautions:
Use personal protective equipment. Ensure adequate ventilation.
environmental Precautions:
Prevent further leakage. Do not allow to enter drains or water courses.
cleanup Methods:
Contain spillage with non-combustible absorbent material and place in container for disposal.
reference:
See Section 13 for disposal considerations.
7
Handling and Storage
handling:
Use only in well-ventilated areas. Ground all equipment. Use non-sparking tools. Avoid skin contact - absorbed through skin.
