First Aid Measures
Inhalation:
Remove to fresh air. If not breathing, give artificial respiration. Seek IMMEDIATE medical attention.
Skin Contact:
Immediately flush with plenty of water for at least 20 minutes. Remove contaminated clothing. Seek immediate medical attention.
Eye Contact:
Immediately flush with plenty of water for at least 20 minutes, lifting eyelids. Seek IMMEDIATE medical attention.
Ingestion:
Do NOT induce vomiting. Rinse mouth. Give water if conscious. Seek IMMEDIATE medical attention.
Most Important Symptoms:
Seek medical attention if symptoms persist.
5
Fire Fighting Measures
suitable Extinguishing:
Use media appropriate for surrounding fire. Water spray to cool containers.
unsuitable Extinguishing:
Do not use water jet directly on acid - may cause violent reaction.
specific Hazards:
Reacts violently with water (exothermic). Contact with metals produces hydrogen gas. Not combustible but enhances combustion.
protective Equipment:
6
Accidental Release Measures
personal Precautions:
Use personal protective equipment. Ensure adequate ventilation.
environmental Precautions:
Prevent further leakage. Do not allow to enter drains or water courses.
cleanup Methods:
Contain spillage with non-combustible absorbent material and place in container for disposal.
reference:
See Section 13 for disposal considerations.
7
Handling and Storage
handling:
Use only in well-ventilated areas. ALWAYS add acid to water, never water to acid. Use corrosion-resistant equipment.
storage:

• {"type":"OSHA PEL","value":"1 mg/m³ TWA"}
• {"type":"ACGIH TLV","value":"0.2 mg/m³ TWA (thoracic fraction)"}
• {"type":"NIOSH REL","value":"1 mg/m³ TWA"}
engineering:
Use explosion-proof equipment. Provide appropriate exhaust ventilation.
ppe:
respiratory:Use appropriate respirator when exposure limits are exceeded.
hand:Chemical-resistant gloves
eye:Safety glasses with side shields or chemical safety goggles
skin:Wear appropriate protective clothing
